What is the Intermediate Traffic Evaluation API?

The Intermediate Traffic Evaluation API provides a simple, self-service way for prospective customers to evaluate TomTom’s real-time traffic data. It provides access to real production traffic data, including Flow and Incidents data, with a rich subset of TomTom traffic features and limited geographic coverage.

This API is intended for:

  • getting familiar with the traffic data
  • validating whether the traffic data fits your use case
  • building early prototypes before starting a commercial engagement

The Intermediate Traffic Evaluation API is not suitable for production use, large-scale processing, or full-coverage applications.

Getting started

Follow these steps to begin using the API:

  1. Create a free evaluation account by registering at my.tomtom.com. Make sure to use a non-personal email address. If you already have an account, sign in.
  2. After signing in, go to your Dashboard and request evaluation access to the Intermediate Traffic API.
  3. Once your request is approved, an evaluation API key will be automatically created for you and you will receive an email notification.
  4. You can then find your API key in the API & SDK Keys section of your Dashboard. Use this API key to start making requests by following the endpoint documentation for Flow - Evaluation API and Incidents - Evaluation API.
