It allows unstructured and semi-structured address queries. The API will return the premium geocoding content if it exists for the address. If there is no premium geocoding content mapped for the address query, or if the query relates to an address outside of the United States, or a non-address place name (such as a city center or administrative area), then the regular geocoding content will be returned.

If you’re already using the TomTom Geocoding API, the Premium Geocoding API schema can be used with minimal changes.

The accuracy is unmatched – more than 99% address accuracy within 10 feet. On average, our location data is 330 feet more accurate than the current industry leader for difficult addresses.

We currently provide premium/detailed responses only in the United States, with coverage focused on locations where most delivery problems occur, such as large apartment buildings, residential communities, mobile home units, hospitals, and colleges. This includes more than 40 million unit locations and waypoints (and growing)!

The TomTom Premium Geocoding API returns results in JSON, JS, and XML response formats.

Currently, TomTom does not offer reverse geocoding on premium geocoding content. Reverse geocoding is currently available only for standard geocoding content.
