What is TomTom's Points of Interest API?
A Point of Interest (POI) is a specific place that someone may find useful or interesting, such as a restaurant, hotel, store, or landmark. The Points of Interest (POI) API enriches these places with additional content, helping you build more informative and engaging location experiences.
The Points of Interest (POI) API consists of two endpoints. The Points of Interest Details endpoint provides additional information about the POIs including: rating, price range, social media links (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), photo IDs, popular hours, and user reviews. The Points of Interest Photos endpoint provides photos of the POI.
Points of Interest API. When to use? When not to use?
Use the Points of Interest API when you already have a POI identifier (for example, from a search result) and want to enrich it with details such as ratings, opening hours, social media links, user reviews, or photos.
If you want to find or look up POIs by name, category, or location rather than enrich a known POI, use the Search API first to obtain the POI identifiers, then call the Points of Interest API to retrieve the additional content.
The Points of Interest (POI) API currently consists of the following endpoints and services:
Points of Interest Details
The Points of Interest Details endpoint provides additional information about the POIs.
Points of Interest Photos
The Points of Interest Photos endpoint provides photos of the POI.
Market Coverage
