Tomtom API data residency and privacy

What is TomTom API data residency and privacy

TomTom APIs manage data in alignment with regional data residency requirements and privacy regulations. While most public APIs are accessible across all regions, certain services—such as Map Display in Korea—are subject to local restrictions due to regulatory requirements.

TomTom’s API Gateway is designed to route requests through the appropriate regional servers, ensuring that data is processed in compliance with the designated region’s policies.

Data residency refers to the geographic location where data is processed, stored (if applicable), and governed by regional legal or regulatory requirements. In TomTom, it defines where an API provider (upstream/backend) must be deployed and handle requests.
