What is On-Street Parking?

The TomTom On-Street Parking service provides drivers with historical information about the expected parking availability on public streets in certain city areas. TomTom derives this parking information by analyzing the traces from our community of more than 550 million connected devices that are contributing to TomTom services. The service provides the following layers of data:

  • The likelihood of finding a parking spot for every street (a ‘parking probability’ value for each hour of every week day / weekend day)

  • The average search time for finding a parking spot for every street (a value for each hour of every week day / weekend day)

  • A geometry referencing layer

  • A connectivity layer that describes the topology of the road network

Getting Started

  1. Request access to TomTom On-Street Parking via your local partner or TomTom account manager
  2. Read the API documentation and start coding

  • Display historical on-street parking probability information on a map

  • Display historical on-street parking average search time information on a map

  • Indicate the severity of the on-street parking condition with colored tubes representing parking availability
